YOUR TIME DESERVES A GOOD START

Behind every repository,
there’s a community.

More than a star count.
A feel for the project.

A popular repository isn’t always the right place to start. CONTRI brings activity, conversations, and contribution openings into one considered view.

01

Is the project moving?

Recent human merges, contributor activity, releases, and repository context. Know what the data actually covers.

90-day activity · source-linked evidence
02

Are people responding?

Observed team activity, average and median first replies, and unanswered samples. Get context before committing your time.

Human responses · honest sample sizes
03

Where can you help?

A badge under every issue title tells you whether it looks free, is assigned, was claimed in the comments — or the claim went quiet — or already has a pull request.

A little glass.
A lot of context.

Right there when you need it. Out of the way when you don’t. Move CONTRI around GitHub and explore the evidence at your own pace.

You bring the curiosity.
We’ll bring the context.

01

Open a repository.

CONTRI recognizes the GitHub project you’re viewing. No copy-paste routine, no full-width dashboard.

02

Read the evidence.

See the overview first. Open Team for response patterns or Issues to inspect contribution opportunities.

03

Start a conversation.

Read the project’s guide and issue discussion. Check existing work. Then bring your idea to the community.

YOUR NEXT STEP, PREPARED

Bring your curiosity.
And your favorite AI.

01

Shortlist and watch.

Save promising projects and issues with private notes. Watch an issue and get a notification when it is unassigned, gets a pull request, a claim goes quiet or it closes.

02

Summarize on your device.

Long thread? Chrome’s built-in AI summarizes it and suggests first steps — locally, without uploading anything.

03

Or bring your favorite AI.

Copy a source-linked contribution brief into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Nothing is sent automatically.

BUILT IN THE OPEN

Better contributions
begin with understanding.

No mysterious quality score. No promises that your PR will be accepted. Just public evidence, thoughtful explanations, and room for your own judgment.

A FEW FIELD NOTES

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Is CONTRI free?+

Yes. The source is available under the MIT license. You can inspect it, improve it, and build on it.

Do I need to sign in?+

No. Anonymous mode works within GitHub’s limit of 60 requests an hour. Signing in with GitHub (read-only, no scopes) raises it to 5,000 and makes most checks a single request. Your sign-in is forgotten when the browser closes unless you choose otherwise, and it is only ever sent to GitHub.

How does it know who the maintainers are?+

From public evidence: GitHub’s team badges, who labels, assigns and merges, CODEOWNERS and the repository owner. That finds maintainers GitHub hides as “contributors”, but it is still not a complete roster, and every result explains its coverage.

Does “Looks free” mean nobody is working on it?+

Not quite. It means CONTRI found no assignee, no recent “I’d like to work on this” claim and no linked open pull request. Someone may still be working quietly, so say hello in the thread before you start.

What stays on my device?+

Cached public reports, your shortlist and notes, watched issues, preferences and, if you choose, your sign-in. AI summaries run on your device with Chrome’s built-in model. There is no analytics or backend. The full privacy policy is in the repository.

Is it on the Chrome Web Store?+

Yes. Install CONTRI from the Chrome Web Store in one click. The same listing works in Edge and Brave, and an experimental Firefox build is on GitHub.
